Book of Beauty

This new folder will be all about beauty. Obviously we can’t ignore the factor otherwise there would not be such a big industry all about beauty. Our bodies are the market. To understand what is going on, first of all we have to ask: Why does beauty matter?  Is beauty in the eye of the beholder? Can we argue rationally about whether something is beautiful? How far we are ready to go to be beautiful? Does beauty mean happy? And what can we learn about ourselves from what we find beautiful?
 

Beauty through zoom lenses: Photographer David Vance talks about his work

Thinking of beauty one of the first things which comes to mind are fashion magazines. So I wanted to talk to people who play a part in creating the high gloss pages. David Vance was kind enough to answer me some questions about his work. David has a successful career photographing advertising and editorial assignments for Cosmopolitan, Entertainment Weekly, Men's Health, Rolling Stone, Tennis, Uomo and Harper's Bazaar, Italia and many more.

Last year everybody was talking about the financial crisis. But not every sector has been affected by the crisis. The turnover in the cosmetic industry proved that beauty always sells. During the Beauty International Düsseldorf fair one could see 1,050 exhibitors and brands from 44 countries in the cosmetic, manicure, pedicure and wellness segments. In 3 days the exibition received 51,000 visitors. How come people are so much interested in being beautiful?

Beauty in High Fashion: Interview with Male Model Kamil Al-Hinai

As an opening to the book Beauty 2010 I had an interview with the UK model Kamil Al-Hinai. He is also known as Kay in the fashion industry. His roots are in the Sultanate of Oman. His family album looks like who is who of Middle East diplomats.
